This work we do.
This toil of our hands, the bigger work of our hearts.
We look back on the day, the week and the year and
wonder what it means. Does it have significance? Does it matter to anyone?
We have come to value that which adds. Adds dollars to
the account or prestige to the name. The
measure however is exactly the inverse of that which is seen. The true yardstick must be what adds to the
kingdom.
We place that lens on the scope of work and the things that felt invisible and insignificant start to resemble hallelujahs.
That time with the child, holding her head while her
nose bleeds for the dozenth’ time.
That time with the husband, holding his hand instead
of prioritizing the dishes.
That conversation with the friend where encouragement
sang songs to our souls.
God builds a kingdom first with our hearts, hands and
feet are just embellishments on the miracle of our mission. Each of us has a piece in this work. We carry our piece, our tiny piece of glory,
praying, shining light, spinning
His tales of grace and we become a part of
something so much bigger than ourselves.
His work, His design, His hope for His children.
We are the hope bearers - beautiful work.
We are the hope bearers - beautiful work.
