In between the crib and the casket,
this life has been built for something. We look at the reflection. Arms that can embrace or fight.
Legs that run toward hard or stay fixed on
self. Eyes that shine love or
hatred. Ears that hear the Word or shun
its glory. A mouth that speaks life and
charity or recites the rhetoric of the lost and dying.
We move and a ripple has been
cast. It widens and what we thought was
only ours has multiplied and joined others in hope and healing or despair and
destruction.
We host the very image of the
Creator. We carry the mind of Christ;
the mind being transformed to a likeness of Him. Yet, how much does that reflection reflect
glory?
Look long at the ripples. Look hard for truth and gentleness, peace and
love. It is then there our image fades
and His begins. Before we speak, let us
listen. Before we cast a shadow, let us
make sure we have spent enough time in the Light.
“Fix
your thoughts on what is true, and honorable.
Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise….
Then the
God of peace will be with you.”
Philippians
4:8-9
