slow mo

Life is suddenly in slow mo.
Only we are not seeing a replay.
We are seeing the first play and hoping to understand quickly as we do not ever want to replay this one.

Gone are the rushed mornings to school.
Gone are sack lunches and starbuck runs.
Gone are afterschool sports. Gone are full calendars.
Gone are packed churches.

Here in the slow mo., I wonder what we are learning.
I have thought long and hard about Mary and Martha. As a self-professed martha, this has never been my favorite story.

There is still shopping to do and meals to make, but there is time;
for the first time in a long time.
Time to learn.
Time to pursue our imagination.
Time to dust of books and puzzles.
Time to talk and listen.
I wonder who it is we are listening too.

Silence is an amazing gift.
We can redact the noise, reduce the confusion and listen.
He has never spoken so loudly.
He is saying ….   be Mary.  Be the one that listens.  Be the one that hears.
Be the one that believes all will be well because He is here.
Be the one that puts down what was and embraces what is and what is to come.

Life has and will change. He has not.
Ever so slowly our eyes are getting focused.
Ever so slowly our ears are tuning in.
Ever so slowly we are finding faith.
It was never gone but hidden, hidden in busy,
hidden in kitchens and board rooms and playrooms.

Slow mo   -    for this moment we embrace it.
We embrace Him.
