remember

Churches will be empty this Sunday.
This, the beloved climax of the church year, we will not stand, or sing, or pray locking hands with one another.

We will instead lock hearts.
We will instead watch screens.
We will instead be part of the great cloud of witness that rejoices in the resurrection.

We will hope for better days to come.
We will listen in the absence of choirs.
We will heed the silence and stillness.
We will pray with open hands and huge, heavy hearts.

We will remember in a quiet tomb a victory was won.
And in a quiet world a new victory can begin.
